International Paper Size:

International paper size, also known as ISO (Internateral standards Organisation) sizes are widely used in metric countries. ISO standards are based on a rectangle whose sides have a ratio of one to the square root of 2 (1.414). No matter how many times a sheet of these production. There are three ISO series , designated A, B, and C.

The A Series
The A Series is for general printed matter including stationery and publications. The basic standard sheet, AO measures 841 x 1189 mm which is the equivalent of a square meter in area. Each number after the series inital A indicates a halving of the preceding larger area. Thus A1 is half of AO, A2 is one quarter of AO, and A3 is an eighth of the AO sheet area, etc.

The B Series
The B series is about half way between two A sizes. It is intended as an alternative to the A series, used primarily for posters, wall charts and similar pieces where the different in size of the larger sheets in the A series represents too large a jump.

The basic B size, call BO, measures 1000 x 1414 mm.
